Hello World,

Here I am. And my name is Elizabeth. I was born this afternoon at
3: 31. I came very fast, and gave my family a start. You see, when I emerged, I wasn't breathing, and I was a lovely blue hue.
My midwife was very swift, and put oxygen to my beautiful rosebud lips. She told my family that if I didn't hiccup after she removed the oxygen mask to call 9-1-1. I didn't hiccup right away. So my big Sister Hannah called 9-1-1. She was frightened, or so she keeps telling everyone. But the 9-1-1 operator was so reassuring that she calmed down right smack:). While Hannah was on the phone I started to use my lungs (and how). Hannah told the 9-1-1 operator that I was breathing, but he told her that once a call goes through, the paramedics have to come.
So in just a flash I heard the sound of sirens and several very tall firefighters and paramedics came in. They were relived to find out that I was quite healthy. My first apgar came in at about 3, but by the time the 'rescue heroes' arrived my apgar was about 8. Thank God!
The Rescue Heroes were so kind, one of them had tears in his eyes! No kidding!
I weigh 9 pounds, eight ounces, and I am 21 inches long. So, as you can tell I am one big girl!
My mom is a real athlete to have pushed me out!
My family loves me to bits already, and I know my brother Henry will be the best big brother ever! You'll be hearing more about me soon, but I think this is enough for now.

First Stage

Hello Everyone,

Well contractions have been going since 11 this morning, and now they're in full swing. The first stage of labor. We are all very excited, and are looking forward to meeting our new brother or sister!
Dad just told Henry to start filling the tub. Since we're having a planned home water birth that means the contractions are strengthening, and birth is fast approaching!
Keep Mom in your prayers!
We'll keep you updated!
Love,
Hannah for the Family

Patiently, Anxiously Waiting

Hello all and welcome to "Baby Barish". It's the eve of our new baby's due date and we just wanted to give you an idea of what our family's up to. First, we are counting our blessings and rejoicing in the 3 beautiful children God has blessed us with. Our oldest two blessings, Hannah and Emily, just made a lovely dinner of chicken & cheese ravioli and asparagus and now we are relaxing by candlelight and chatting. Second,  it seems we've adequately prepared our nest and are just waiting for the contractions to start. It seems so clear to me that life begins at conception. I mean, is our baby, safe in it's mother's womb, any less of a person today than it will be tomorrow? Third, judging from the joyful, giddy silliness our youngest,Henry, is displaying, this is as exciting as Christmas, although maybe less significant. Finally, we are trusting that The Lord will give us the wisdom, patience, and most of all, energy to keep up with this new bundle of joy! We'll keep you all updated on the latest developments.
Love,
The Barish's
